Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry is an artisan mala beads and jewelry company. The mala artist, Jacqueline Medalye, designs and makes each piece with care, craftsmanship, and attention to fine detail. As the energy of mala beads is influenced by the process of making malas, the designer ensures that each piece is made with love and only during a positive and peaceful state of mind. During the design phase, mala beads are selected based on their energy and the artist combines Ayurvedic philosophy, intuition, color and beauty to design unique high quality malas.

About the Jewelry Designer
Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry is operated by Jacqueline Medalye. Jacqueline has been practicing yoga for 10 years. She currently is practicing Hatha and Yin yoga. She practices yoga and meditation daily.
Jacqueline grew up surrounded by aesthetics and fashion. Her mother was a fashion designer in Toronto and founded her own company in 1984. Her fashion designs were on the runways of New York City and Toronto, and sold in stores throughout Canada. In 1990, her mother became an instructor at the George Brown School of Fashion, until her early death in 1997. Jacqueline draws inspiration from her experience growing up, and designs jewelry to keep the memory and legacy of her mother alive. All of Jacqueline’s designs come from her daily yoga and meditation practice. As various feelings, reflections, and inspirations arise she transform them into mala beads that can provide intention, inspiration, and beauty for others.
Jacqueline is also a certified reiki practitioner and places reiki energy into all of her mala beads. Jacqueline has been making beaded jewelry since 1993 and in 2001 she founded her own beaded jewelry company online. In 2009, after the financial crisis put her employees’ families out of work, Jacqueline gave her first company to her workers. Today, her first company, Medalye Designs, is owned and operated solely by its workers and provides a livelihood for those families.
After giving away her first company, Jacqueline traveled extensively throughout India in order to deepen her yoga practice. Her time in India led to the creation of Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry. Jacqueline feels that Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry is her path of right livelihood given her passion for yoga, beads, jewelry design, and craftsmanship.
