Prices and Sales Tax

All of our prices are in US Dollars.

Sales tax will be added to any orders shipped within Canada. Sales tax is not charged on orders being shipped outside of Canada.

Customs fees or taxes are separate from the shipping charges, and are not the responsibility of Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry. Customs fees and taxes will vary. Contact your local Customs office if you have any questions or concerns about these fees. All packages shipped will include a declaration indicating the contents, with full value for the order listed. A package returned to us due to refusal of these customs charges will result in Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry being charged for the shipping, return shipping and Customs fees, and future orders will not be accepted until these fees are reimbursed. International customers may be subject to import duties, fees and taxes, which are levied after a shipment reaches their country. If a shipment is rejected because of customs clearance charges or refusal to accept delivery, the customer will be responsible for any fees incurred, including international shipment and handling, as well as a 35% restocking fee to account for the time involved in receiving the return, processing the return, restocking the inventory, and administrative time.


All of our items are handmade to order. Please allow 7 days for your item to be handmade, this can be faster during the Christmas season Dec 10 – 23. If you are ordering for Christmas please see our order deadline schedule below.

Orders may take up to 10 days to be handmade depending on the production schedule. If you are in rush, please notify us so that we can advise you on expected delivery times, which may be design specific.

Orders with back ordered items will be shipped once the entire order is available to ship, unless otherwise arranged and special requested. It may take 3- 6 weeks before we can ship an order with a back ordered item. If you order an item on back order your order is not refundable, as parts are especially sourced to fulfill your request of items we do not stock regularly but can remake on demand.

Regularly, we offer various shipping options to our customers:

Standard shipping is provided by USPS or Canada Post and takes 7-14 days to arrive within the USA and Canada, and has a tracking number.

Expedited shipping takes 4-10 days to arrive within the USA and Canada, and has a tracking number.

Express shipping takes 3-5 days to arrive within the USA and Canada, and has a tracking number.

Customers who require a rush shipment, rush making and rush shipping, should contact us, we will let you know if this is possible, there is a $100 surcharge for rush orders.

Seller is not responsible for any delays in shipping due to customs, delay on the part of the courier, or delays caused by strike or labor disputes with the shipping service.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that they enter the correct shipping address. Any returned packages arriving back to our studio due to unclaimed status or wrong address status will be shipped to a correct address at the buyers additional expense or can be refunded at the request of the customer however, any fees incurred to receive a returned shipment that was rejected by the postal service due to an incorrect address entry are the responsibility of the customer and will be deducted from the return, this includes shipping charges, customs charges, and a 25% restocking fee.

Custom Designs

We work with hundreds of components and have offered custom designs in the past. Our designer is on sabbatical from custom work. If you see mala beads you like and would like it in a different gemstone or with a different guru or in a different metal tone, or if you would like something entirely new please contact us and our designer will get back to you for a consultation. Expect your custom design to take at least 6 weeks to fulfill. All custom designs are final sale.

Back orders are partial custom requests, we do not stock back ordered items regularly but offer them for sale by special request. It takes 3 -6 weeks for back orders to be fulfilled and these requests are non-refundable.

Custom bracelet sizes. If you want a size other then the one listed, this is possible. Custom size changes alter the count of the mala beads. This customization costs $7, and makes your piece a final sale item. If your size does not fit after a request for a custom size, it can be sized again for a charge of $20. This is to compensate for the labor and shipping involved is remaking your piece. Custom sizing is not available on sale items or during sales, as pieces are pre-made to accommodate demand.

Custom string. If you want your mala made on a different type of cord then the one in the design, for example stretch cord, there is a $70 fee for changing the string type. All custom string requests are final sale. If you subsequently want your mala adjusted to a different size or different string, there is $50 additional fee to compensate for labor and shipping.

Custom mala beads are copyright of Salt Spring Malas & Yoga Jewelry and the client agrees not to reproduce, redistribute, or recreate the design that was created on commission.


If you would like to make a return we are happy to accommodate your request. You can send your item back for a return or exchange. You must have your order number and original e-mail that the order was purchased under, to qualify for a return. Returns will not be accepted with out this vital invoice information. Returned items are subject to a 35% restocking fee, as pieces are made by hand to order. This fee accounts for the time to process your return, which includes customer correspondence, the shippers time, and bookkeeping time, lost shipping fees, loss of packaging materials. All custom bracelet size adjusted orders are final sale, however, if you are not happy with the size, it can be adjusted for a $7 fee plus shipping. Please expect your refund to take 15 business days to process once your package is received. Shipping fess are not refundable. Orders canceled withing 24 hours are subject to a 25% cancellation fee, to account for the restocking, reprogramming of inventory, and reverse accounting labor time associated with cancelled orders, after 24 hours, a 35% restocking fee applies.

Orders that are returned must arrive back in the exact condition in which they were sent. Worn or used items are not returnable. Customers have 30 days to exchange a purchase. Returns must be marked ‘return’ for the purposes of customs without a declaration value. If you fail to mark your return appropriately, you will be responsible for any customs fees incurred to pick up your return. The customer is responsbile for purchasing insurance against theft, loss or damage of a return, so that if this occurs their cost can be refunded by the postal service.

Please contact us within 7 days of receipt if you would like to make a return. Please note, shipping fees are not refundable. Customers who would like a refund or exchange, are responsible for the fees incurred to send back the package to Salt Spring Malas. Packages must be marked “return of goods to seller” with $0 declared value for the purposes of customs. Any package marked return to sender for which Salt Spring Malas incurs a C.O.D. fee to pick up will be deducted from the value of the return.

We do not accept exchanges.

If you’ve purchased a custom mala, these orders cannot be returned, all custom designs are final sale.

All earrings are final sale for hygienic reasons. All yoga leggings are only refundable if unworn, unwashed, and in original condition.

All pieces purchased On Sale are final sale, if over time you need a repair on a sale item, there is nominal repair fee. Products purchased with a coupon are non-refundable, and are final sale.

Repairs and Restringing

Our mala beads are guaranteed to last. Our malas are intended to last a long time. They are strung on the strongest, most flexible, light weight beading wire. The beads are high quality gemstones and will stay smooth, bright, and even for many years. If you ever have a problem with your mala please contact us and we would be happy to help you, we offer repair service in the rare event of manufacturing defects. The labor on repairs is free for breakages that occur within the first 45 days of purchase. After this time, if you would like a repair, please contact us for assistance.

If you require a repair please contact us. The buyer is responsible for the shipping fees both ways, in shipping back the item to Salt Spring Malas for repair, as well as the shipping fees for receiving the repaired mala back to their location. An order number or the first and last name that you purchased the mala under is required to determine if you qualify for a repair.  Repairs may take 6 weeks to complete.
Please note, Jacqueline is caring for a baby, she is not repairing malas that break after a reasonable amount of time.
All Sample Sale items are final sale.
Salt Spring Malas and Yoga Jewelry is not responsible for items damaged or lost in transit.
We do not repair mala beads made by other studios or manufactures, but will stand behind the quality of our products.
Repairs must be sent by mail, and no studio drop offs or pick ups will be accepted due to the time consuming nature of repair requests.


We offer resizing on our pieces. If you require a resize please contact us. Resize service costs $7, and is offered with each purchase and additional resizing can be made for an additional nominal fee. The buyer is responsible for the fees incurred in sending back the item for resizing.

Wholesale Clients

Wholesale orders take an average of 14 business days to ship. Depending on the size of your order, it make take longer. The wholesale client agrees to pay the shipping fee after their order has been completed and weighted. This will be invoiced separately at the time of order completion. Wholesale clients agree to only use their discount for business purchases. Any client found to be distributing their wholesale discount code to others for use online will loose access to their wholesale account and discount. Wholesale clients agree to never use images from Salt Spring Malas & Yoga Jewelry. If a wholesale client wishes to re-sell our products online, they are responsible for undertaking their own product photography. Our copyright terms and commercial image rights, as agreed to with our photographer, stipulate that only Salt Spring Malas & Yoga Jewelry can use our website images. Clients found in violation of these terms will be requested to remove images, and will have their wholesale privileges cancelled. All wholesale orders are final sale.
